Furrehytter

Sea Fishing in Rogaland 2026

Furrehytter sits on Fårasundet on Bjergøy, one of the Sjernarøy islands in the Boknafjord, in the Ryfylke region north-east of Stavanger. The family-run cabin grend was founded by Fridtjov and Olaug Furre in 1996 and now has 156 beds across 21 cabins and apartments, several built in boathouse (sjøhus) style right on the dock — from some you can fish out of the window. The camp rents out a large fleet of around 31 boats in all sizes. The sheltered sounds and edges between the islands fish well for cod, saithe, pollack and ling. Sjernarøy is south of 62°N, where the cod minimum size is 40 cm and Atlantic halibut is prohibited year-round for recreational catch.

Worth knowing

Tips from experienced anglers

  1. 1For the largest rental boats (Grand, Furreliner) you need the Norwegian boating licence or to be born before 1 Jan 1980 — the Pioner boats can be hired without it
  2. 2Refuel (98 octane) at Joker Eriksholmen, open 24/7 — also carry a full reserve can before heading out
  3. 3Register your trip and catch in the GoFish app and always wear a life jacket — the hosts give weather advice before you set out
