Tips from experienced anglers

  1. 1Frøya lies north of 62°N, so the cod minimum size is 44 cm outside 4 nautical miles and 55 cm inside, and halibut may be kept outside the closed season December 20–April 20 (minimum 84 cm). Check the rules before heading out.
  2. 2Sea chart 41 (Frøya–Gjæsingen) is available in the filleting shed. Borrow it and load the local fishing spots into the chartplotter before your first trip.
  3. 3The Sulfjord between Frøya and Sula has many underwater mountains and shallows - well suited for cod, saithe and ling, and halibut over sandy bottom.
