Lauklines Kystferie sits right on the waterfront in the sheltered Kaldfjord (Kattfjord) on Kvaløya, only about a 40-minute drive from Tromsø Airport. The former fish-trading station, established in 1920, has been run as a holiday resort since 1999 and offers high-standard rorbu cabins, rental boats with echo sounder and GPS, fishing-tackle hire, a covered filleting room and freezer. It is roughly 20 minutes sailing to the open sea, and the area is renowned for big halibut, cod and saithe -- with the midnight sun in summer and the northern lights in winter.
